When possible, the group collaborates on existing initiatives to be a positive influence in the area.
Collective efforts have included:
More than $1400 was raised for local scholarships to be distributed through Hispanic Scholarship Consortium and National Black MBA Association Austin Chapter for future leaders.
North Austin Influencers™ collaborated with Williamson County Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (WilCoHREP) for a professional mixer and successfully collected school supplies dispersed to students from Bagdad and Knowles Elementary.
More than 100 coats were collected for Coat Drive through “Kids Helping Kids” which provides winter coats for students in Williamson County, one of the commitments in Williamson County by Doris McDonald, founder and president of the Williamson County African American Chamber of Commerce, the first African-American Business Chamber in Williamson County.
In collaboration with Hispanic Women’s Network and SOS Leadership, over 150 books were gathered to be used through The March of Dimes – Austin Division which has partnered with Dell Children’s Medical Center to provide to parents and siblings to read to babies during neonatal intensive-care unit (NICU) stay.
The Thinkery is an evolution of the Austin Children’s Museum. It’s a foundry for a new generation of innovators and creative problem solvers. The Thinkery invited our group in to work on a fun behind-the-scenes material preparation project. A lot of their exhibits and programs involve activities that require materials. This kind of service project lends itself well to networking and team-building.

“This past May The March of Dimes – Austin Division had the honor of being the sponsored non-profit of the month for an event organized by North Austin Influencers. To support our mission, the members put together a book drive and collected over 100 books for our NICU families. The NICU Family support program at Dell Children’s Medical Center offers support and education to families experiencing hospitalization of a baby. The books donated by attendees are being distributed to these families ensuring that they have continued means of providing support and comfort to their babies while in the NICU, as scientific data shows that the parent’s voice is stimulating and comforting to babies.
Words can’t express the amount of gratitude we have for all the individuals that supported this book drive. Thank you for supporting our mission and giving every baby a fighting chance.” – Sarah Wauters, NICU Family Support Specialist with The March of Dimes .
